It seems I got on a roll one night while watching a DVD and just started putting pinwheels together. Little did I realize as I was relaxing and pasting, that they were a bit harder to make into cards. That part wasn't so easy. But here are the 2 that came from the movie night.
I know it looks like I am just slow, but, I had to go make a roast, fry some potatoes and do some touch-up painting on a wooden Christmas yard art. Now back to my regularly scheduled play time! I ran out of sunlight so I had to resort to the scanner which doesn't show highly shiny stuff like the dots on the flower centers, they are actually silver.
I have seen this technique done so many times and think it looks so cool, so today I decided to try it. These are my first 2. The one with the flower almost ended up in the trash after I stuck something where it didn't belong and then tore it trying to remove it. Yikes! OWH is having a Virtual Cardmaking Party on Facebook today and these will be the first of my creations for the Heroes today.
I decided to use "Friends" patterned paper since not all cards go to family. Friends are so very important in our lives. Here is my rustic version. The snowflakes were scrubbed with a sand and a bronze colored ink, the ribbon double layered to look snowy and penstitching to help make it look rustic.
I know this one isn't Christmas-y. I am working on more holiday cards, but this one is for the Valentine's Day collection for OWH. I have to have all these LOVE ones in the mail by the end of December so they can get to the Heroes in time for them to use for Valentines. This could be used for a LOVE in general, which is nice.
Happy Veteran's Day to Americans and Rememberance Day to Canadians! I am running like a crazy woman getting things ready for my surgery tomorrow, but I just had to make a card for our Heroes. The sentiment came from Create with TLC, she posted it as a freebie some time back. Thank you, Paulette.
This week I am getting ready to go in for surgery on my leg. Those of you who know me know that I have struggled with this rod and bolts for a very long time and finally I am getting them out. It has been a tough emotional ride these past years and now hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel. Anyway, I have been trying to make myself some "kits" to put together while laid up in bed and I figured the Valentine ones would be a good cheery theme to work on. Sandy sent me this wonderful image (in multiples) and I had this lovely red paper in my stash which I punched to look like lace. It just said "LOVE" to me. What do you think?
I recently purchased a flower making stencil and have been cutting up that pile of patterned paper scraps. I'm loving how easy it is to make these. This card was made from more scraps and RAK's.
First I have to say, wow, is it ever hard to photograph shiny silver paper! This stuff makes great ornaments for the cards, but the shine can be a bit tough to get a good picture of. This card is for 2 challenges that happen to be on at the same time. The first one is for a WCMD celebration over at Simply Rae blog. It is for her sketch challenge. And as I was making it yesterday I saw that it was also good for the OWH Midweek Throwdown. That sort of timing rarely happens to me. 
I made this butterfly with an unknown brand of stamp bought off e-bay, added the glitter glue around the edges and sealed the whole thing in Dimensional Magic. I made it a few days ago. I know that it is Autumn and most of our card making is geared towards the holidays....... she, however, was crying out to be a card.
This one I went with more on the orange side of things. Fall is here and that wonderful color is everywhere!
Like we need a holiday to make cards! LOL!!! But it is nice to have a day that celebrates card MAKERS! To start my day I made 2 cards for Paper Crafts Magazine's FB challenge to make yellow or orange Thank You cards. Since yellow and orange are not my go-to colors, I made these simple ones.
Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps hosted a challenge for OWH this month and it was to make a fall card. As we head into the end of the year these will be in high demand and are probably in short supply. The rules for OWH state NO glitter so the nice shiny stip down the side is a ribbon to give a little twinkle (and matching the leaf brad) with no flaking! The dark piece has a copper-look shimmer built right into the paper as well.

The challenge for the OWH Birthday Bash sponsored by Paper Therapy Ponderings was to use a penguin image, use shades of purple and to use some old paper laying around in your stash. I absolutely love this penguin and purple was easy to add since it really helps add to the feeling it is cold. And the old paper is actually trees with snow on it. It came from one of those old packs that had seasons in it. Most of the paper is down right scary and I wonder how it got in my pile! But this snow covered trees found new purpose with my penguin

This was a fun card to make. It is made entirely out of RAK items. The patterned paper and amazing buttons were from Kajikit and the senntiment came to me in a swap. How cool is that? I am using it for two challenges, one for Operation Write Home and also Stamp Haven's Harvest Home Haven celebration. The card will be sent to OWH to hopefully brighten a soldier's day.
This is a fabulous digi by Rick St. Dennis, donated to the OWH Birthday Bash. I thought he simply good with denim and surrounded by the Stars and Stripes. I am going to use this as an Any Hero Card as well.
I had never tried the Googlies until now. This image from TLC Creations seemed like just the right one to try it out on.
This challenge asked to focus on a sticker. I had to laugh! Now she wants stickers! So, this is made from 3 different sets of stickers, even the leaf panels are 2 stickers.
I wish the scan would show that the sentiments on this paper are all embossed. It looks so cool! The "Love" is an epoxy sticker with an inked bit of paper behind it for color and the letters are brush stickers. It looks a bit manly, eh?
Now how fun is this? A bling challenge! Not to worry about the traces of glitter on the image, they are encased in Dimensional Magic for security. This one was quick and fun!
This is for a challenge over at Sandy's blog, It's a colorful world. I made this one from a reeeeeally old stamp that no longer even had it's wood. She is a pretty gal and well worth keeping.
I made this one last night after getting home from my very first card making party (with real people, inside joke!). I just loved the digi flowers. These were made with a paper flower underneath, the digi flower and a paper flower on top. The recipe called for 2 flowers, 3 brads and 1 ribbon. Thanks to Meljens for the lovely digi flower that I think I will use often.
Oh, My Gosh! This was made from scraps! Well, the beautiful sentiment came from TLC Creations, which totally made this easier to do. The idea for this card was to be one sent TO the child. While they won't be able to read it now, they would know later that their parent was thinking of them while they were in such a tough place. Kind of like a keepsake.
I joined in the Facebook party a bit late, but wanted to try some of the challenges I missed. This one is for the Indian Summer. Up here in Alberta, the sunflowers are standing tall right now, telling winter to stay away a bit longer.
Having not finished my first cup of coffee this morning, I just jumped right in to the current challenge at the Facebook Birthday Bash! It is from today's Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge #35. I guess I had better go make another one to post at S&S!
