The ODBD challenges will be over soon with the closing of OWH. This month the challenge is to make Missing You cards. I've made a bunch of more "Christmas-ish" Missing You cards and will be posting them soon as well. I just really haven't had any time for posting so this weekend I might be playing catch up. :) Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04425228159509600950noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3898798041656612022.post-91950815992872995182015-05-24T09:40:00.001-06:002015-05-24T09:40:15.159-06:00Memorial Day Blog Hopping Celebration<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I am enjoying the blog hop for OWH and I'm getting some cards done so we can finish strong! I actually made some Christmas cards yesterday for the box. I had stocked up on Christmas supplies for the year and figured I had better get them out. I made 8 of these.<br />
<br />

I know that simple Thinking of You cards are always needed and this was such a pretty shiny piece of paper and the 3-D flower got some added twinkle to hopefully make someone feel special.<br />

This one was a bit hard to photograph because the butterfly is a giant vellum die cut by K&Co. It is matte finish but the flash from the camera kept creating a serious flare. It looks much better in person. You know, I suppose there is nothing like some solitary time with paper and bling. You need to zoom in on this paper and see all the wet embossing, it is awesome! Heck, how can you make a bad card with THAT paper? <br />

These 2 are my contribution to the "Oldie Moldie" category. That was an old 8.5"x11" piece I found in with some other stuff. Nice paper. Should have used it years ago.</div>

And then there were these "I love you" cards as well. Pretty paper is my best friend! I'm done cutting for tonight since I have lost all my natural light. I think this is a great hop! I'll be back at it again tomorrow. Good night all!</div>

<br />
I can't believe that it is already the end of May and that this is the final OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop. This was a big day at my house. I was "given" the whole 3 days off from wifey duties to cut and paste and watch the flinkets fly! My husband was very supportive of the blog hop weekends like this. He would often come in and ask about what challenges we were doing or what theme or sometimes just give me the thumbs up for something I had made. It sure is empty without him here to cheer me on....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I know he would still be proud of my commitment to making the cards for our Heroes. So, I'm going to make cards until the last day. I had just gotten my card making area sort of set up when I read the news that OWH was going to be declaring Mission Accomplished this year.<br />
<br />

<br />
I'm so glad to hear that many of our Heroes are finally out of harm's way and back with their friends and families. I have to admit I cried. For them and for the change coming. OWH has been a lifeline to the outside world for me. I lived out very rural on a farm and OWH has been my sanity, my community and place to laugh and grow.<br />

Sandy and her team of extraordinary volunteers have done an amazing job to help keep Heroes and their families connected over the miles. They have built a wonderful community of cardmakers with common purpose. I am so thrilled and moved to tears that I have been a part of this amazing effort.<br />

The <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/may-odbd-challenge-2/" target="_blank">ODBD Challenge</a> for this month is Embossing. I always love how dry embossing looks so fancy and adds so much texture to a card. I just love this sentiment stamp! I think it is so classy. Yep, you guessed it, using up those K&Co 3-D stickers covered in Dimensional Magic. (I'm trying to get back into the swing of posting.) Hello! This month's <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/march-odbd-challenge-3/" target="_blank">challenge from Our Daily Bread Designs</a> is to make cards for our Heroes with the sentiment being the focal point. Which works for me since I don't do much in the way of images and coloring.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhECTOPJ223ULhuuNQSFC4OS_tpPTJSmUO8Ros4aHtGx1fTJvqA3EGqTKTFPYmug5aF7MSC38NdPT7iLb_7ChEqNw25_bo9qkcJYUk_gC-UP1IATufXOa8cd9ZyqdANc1kgQHkm7NVwlEXZ/s1600/100_2692+(1024x533).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhECTOPJ223ULhuuNQSFC4OS_tpPTJSmUO8Ros4aHtGx1fTJvqA3EGqTKTFPYmug5aF7MSC38NdPT7iLb_7ChEqNw25_bo9qkcJYUk_gC-UP1IATufXOa8cd9ZyqdANc1kgQHkm7NVwlEXZ/s1600/100_2692+(1024x533).jpg" height="207" width="400" /></a></div>
I just love this stamp that I picked up at Hobby Lobby! The 3-D embellishments are more of the K&Co stash and all have had shine added with Dimensional Magic. From time to time I make card fronts out of a bunch of leftovers so that on days when I have no mo-jo I can just add a sentiment and maybe an embellishment and I have a card. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho2VK-rg28ycn6IACKjI3QoaAMmn8Pd_VcTNJSQCPzJhDJVxeQfKNFnpEiY4GPIX-W9dn6KyWxSUfB2nsedRh8YcbZTGYOPoyVPbSvn-8jV3P4U2jhYaGK-9BF1Zz03xOk_ljD_Oj6rtmI/s1600/100_2677+(841x1024).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho2VK-rg28ycn6IACKjI3QoaAMmn8Pd_VcTNJSQCPzJhDJVxeQfKNFnpEiY4GPIX-W9dn6KyWxSUfB2nsedRh8YcbZTGYOPoyVPbSvn-8jV3P4U2jhYaGK-9BF1Zz03xOk_ljD_Oj6rtmI/s1600/100_2677+(841x1024).jpg" height="320" width="262" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
These cards are some of those card fronts that I had stashed away.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0JtWCkZa9yRW75qZU5zLCcpRMCCa1TYIRaJMdXDNE-5LS_bCt9oQ8UII8xc4xrkewDI1lZXTLlNKTX6wdQcoGDV0qDj1lYJ5_B0gb4_1umA-oD4laOnnZ2DJE8SNAc4K-43Cch5jxTTTW/s1600/100_2759+(1024x772).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0JtWCkZa9yRW75qZU5zLCcpRMCCa1TYIRaJMdXDNE-5LS_bCt9oQ8UII8xc4xrkewDI1lZXTLlNKTX6wdQcoGDV0qDj1lYJ5_B0gb4_1umA-oD4laOnnZ2DJE8SNAc4K-43Cch5jxTTTW/s1600/100_2759+(1024x772).jpg" height="241" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
The great thing is that a bunch of these fronts are not just singles but are multiples so I can get more made in the short amount of time I have to spread my stuff on the bed and then have to clean it all back up again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Wow, I can see from my last post that it has been awhile. It is just so dang hard to make cards on my bed, yeah the one I'm sleeping in, not a spare one. I don't think I have ever missed making one for the monthly <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/february-odbd-challenge-2/" target="_blank">ODBD challenge</a> and so here it is. How about some fish???Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04425228159509600950noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3898798041656612022.post-19313921739437685232015-01-30T12:30:00.000-07:002015-01-30T12:30:09.264-07:00ODBD January Challenge - Any Hero Card<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

What a great way to start off 2015 at <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/january-odbd-challenge/" target="_blank">Operation Write Home</a> than to have our challenge for <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/january-odbd-challenge/" target="_blank">ODBD</a> to be making Any Hero cards! The background on this is a bit glossy and the twinkly stars are all stickers mounted on cardstock and then popped. Also the "U's" in USA are shiny and it is part of a cardstock border sticker from K&Co. <br />Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04425228159509600950noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3898798041656612022.post-30918875188126633882015-01-01T10:54:00.000-07:002015-01-01T10:54:17.291-07:00OWH Top 14 of 2014The following is a collection of some of my favorite cards that I made during 2014. This past year was very hard as my husband passed away in April and my favorite aunt (like a second Mom) passed away 30 days later. So much has happened in these 8 months and most of it NOT good at all so I am quite surprised that I have 14 cards to post for this <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/top-14-of-2014-bloghop/" target="_blank">blog hop</a>. I hope you like these as much as I liked making them for our deployed Heroes!<br />

It's time for the <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/december-odbd/" target="_blank">Our Daily Bread Designs monthly challenge</a> and for this month it is a color challenge. We are to make cards with primary colors. When I think primary colors I usually think of Mickey and his friends. I have a bunch of the squares from a sheet I had gotten at Michael's quite a while back. I left off a sentiment so that it could be for any occasion that a Hero would want to send a note to a child. He pops off the page just a bit for interest.Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04425228159509600950noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3898798041656612022.post-86341592801970752922014-12-07T10:38:00.000-07:002014-12-07T10:38:11.162-07:00Lovin' the Leftovers!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Let me just start off by saying I have quite a few to post. I have been trying to clean up leftovers while packing up the craft space for my future move. (Crafting and packing do NOT go together well.) This first one is actually on some lovely gray paper not purple-ish like this silly photo shows... hm? Anyway, gray has become my new "kraft" as far as colors. Love it! The flower is a K&Co. 3D embellishment minus the bottom layer of foam. Their foam is very thin but there is a layer under the main flower and it starts to get a bit too thick for the Heroes to mail home for free. I just peel off the bottom layer and stick it down. Then add lots of Dimensional Magic to the flower for shiny accent.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This one features the free digi by Paula S. and the frame it sits on is a golden snowflake cut on the Cricut. No, the Cricut is packed..... I cut up some ahead of time and it was an easy go-to. The heart has Dimensional Magic for a nice bit of shine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

There were just all these lovely chunks of paper sitting in the leftover basket. Love that crochet embellishment!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZCaqELPiUGvDoGxYBNuRU_qWAb48r5WogT1qIbinF_tx6jftyvOfubIJXdew06xB_0FD9bUJ82dfbmgPThnLD6Kq3xeH0eUUq4jvgkNKyzmFZm3jTvtbb_7lbC43GZjlpe61oVcSM3_US/s1600/100_2609+(1024x810).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZCaqELPiUGvDoGxYBNuRU_qWAb48r5WogT1qIbinF_tx6jftyvOfubIJXdew06xB_0FD9bUJ82dfbmgPThnLD6Kq3xeH0eUUq4jvgkNKyzmFZm3jTvtbb_7lbC43GZjlpe61oVcSM3_US/s1600/100_2609+(1024x810).jpg" height="253" width="320" /></a></div>
Last but not least, this card was made with chalkboard paper run through an embossing folder. It made all those lovely raised dots white without me having to sand it. The other large panel is a matte silver that just didn't want to photograph well. The flower and butterfly are also K&Co. I have a few baggies full of them and they make a nice quick and easy card. They all get Dimensional Magic for a little extra "love."<br />
<br />
So there you have my Sunday installment. I'm working on a few more cards from the leftover basket this weekend in hopes to get this box finished for OWH and mailed out this week. <br />

Operation Write Home is having a <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/red-friday-bloghop/" target="_blank">Red Friday Blog Hop</a> to help inspire card makers' creativity when most folks are preoccupied with Christmas holiday events. This is a great blog hop in that the theme is Love and it is held during a time that is typically slow for cards arriving at OWH.<br />

I made one with the sentiment and one without so that it can be used for any occasion. These cards were inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest. It isn't CASE'd but it got the mo-jo started. All these leftover slices can sure make a colorful card. A couple of weeks ago Cindy R. inspired me to get some scrappy cards made. So, what better than "Scrappy" Birthday cards??? (I know, silly pun)</div>

Tonight Ann M. tossed out a challenge on SS FB page to make Patriotic Cards for Veteran's Day. Well, this Veteran has a couple of vintage looking ones to toss into the ring. In my family I have had a father, uncle, brother, cousins, brother-in-law and niece all serve. And I currently have a sister and a niece both in active service. My family IS Patriotic! :) Happy Veteran's Day to all who have served!Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04425228159509600950noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3898798041656612022.post-71194077355720797332014-11-08T10:42:00.001-07:002014-11-08T10:43:30.394-07:00Missing You (same paper)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is (obviously) another card made from the previous post's paper. I just love the glossy flowers and velvet ribbon. The 3D butterfly is K&Co to which I added EXTRA gloss. :) I'm working on a few more cards from this paper. I think they would be good for the Valentine season.</div>

Today started with the leftovers of yesterday's weird wet snowstorm still falling lightly from the sky. Heavy wet snow caused a blackout today. So card making was way better than sitting in silence waiting and wondering. This card was made for the <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/november-odbd-challenge/" target="_blank">ODBD Challenge</a> which calls for at least one heart on the card. The paper is TPC Studio and the flowers and butterfly are wet look embossed. I just added the velvet ribbon, hearts and bow. Great paper! I'm going to make some more because this was a 12x12 and they will all look different since this is not a repeating pattern on the paper. It should be fun. Oh, and yes the power came back on after about 3 hours. :)</div>

What the heck is going on? Yesterday was sunny and in the mid to high 60's, today I am under a snowfall warning! Right now I do NOT need snow. But, our Heroes could you some more Missing You cards so here is my card for this morning. Lots of layers and different sources.... used Cricut, Big Kick, stickers, computer, embossing folder and Dimensional Magic. Hopefully, it won't actually snow today......... crossing my fingers!<br />Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04425228159509600950noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3898798041656612022.post-27112508330461515842014-10-30T12:15:00.000-06:002014-10-30T13:33:28.915-06:00Winter Missing You<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Needing a rest from this time of stress I DECIDED to make a card this morning. Our deployed Heroes still need me to remember them. So here is my snowy card for today. The dry embossed background was given some extra color with distressing and dots with a metallic pen. The top layer of the snowflake is all glossed over with Dimensional Magic. I did the sentiment with Word.Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04425228159509600950noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3898798041656612022.post-38105316277401710652014-10-26T12:11:00.002-06:002014-10-26T12:11:58.870-06:00SS Challenge - Music Theme<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I am so shocked and happy that I made another card today. This one is for a challenge that was posted on Seongsook's Stampers FB page. This was the only piece of music paper I could find in all this packing. This month the <a href="http://operationwritehome.org/october-odbd-challenge/" target="_blank">ODBD Challenge</a> is to make a snowflake card that is not Christmas. I have packed up a lot of my supplies already but had these lovely snowflake stickers still out. The 3 panels were leftovers from some previous cards so this worked out well since the Christmas/Winter paper has already been packed. The snowflake border is a sticker border and the sentiment is slightly popped.<br />Lynnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04425228159509600950noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3898798041656612022.post-12733183552447511342014-10-22T14:54:00.000-06:002014-10-22T14:54:15.173-06:00SS (Seongsook's Stampers) Challenge - Dry Embossing<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I know I am not posting much lately but all this packing towards the unknown departure date is very hard. And I'm trying to sell off a bunch of stuff from the farm as well. (Ever tried to pack up a farm?) This whole horrible ordeal just really needs to have a light start to show up at the end of that tunnel.<br />
<br />
I am glad to have made a least one card recently. I found the flower makings in a box of "forgotten" pre-cut items and the embossing is for the most recent SS dry embossing challenge.<br />
