On this sunny Sunday morning I've got a card (well actually I made 5) for the ODBD September challenge. The challenge was for me to make my own background. I do have to say a few words about it because it just wouldn't photograph right. The background is supposed to be a shabby chic weathered wood. The kraft base was run through the Big Kick with a wood type embossing folder and then roughly painted with blue, pink and silver. For some reason the blue really pops in the photos........ hm? and the lace is barely beige. Anyway the idea was for a shabby chic barn wood look.
Operation Write Home
I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

Thinking of You - Winter
I know at first glance you might think this is a Christmas card. Look again. No decorated trees, no presents, no ornaments. Just seasonal colors and some holly. So this card would be perfect any time during the holiday or winter months to say something other than just Merry Christmas. It could actually be used as a birthday card for someone who's birthday is in December or January or example. I'm trying to find and use paper and sentiments that can be a little more flexible.

First Fall Cards
While I was working on the Christmas cards it realized I had not made any fall cards.
I started making these backgrounds while watching show. It is amazing how relaxing that is.
And I had these beautiful stickers from Recollections that are shimmery with foil edging and accents. I mounted them on cardstock and then cut them out. The swirly things are thin chipboard that I distressed with 4 colors of ink.

Cleaning out the basket
Here are a few I made when cleaning out the basket.
It is surprising that these bits can make interesting cards.
These two were made with a free digi sentiment from Create with TLC.
That dark purple ribbon is velvet. And now on to cleaning up a bit more!

Morning Misc Cards
Good morning! There is no special theme for this morning's post. I'm still digging out from the 4th of July VCMP. I must have had a good time because there was stuff everywhere!
So this is just a bunch of random cards I made.
These are mostly from scrap clean up.
Ok, off to clean up a bit more. I'll probably be back later with a few more. Have a great Saturday!

OWH Sunday Sketch #44
Yay! Another one checked off the list! I am trying to work my way through the challenges I didn't get done when they were first issued. Yes, I have a little book that tells me which ones I have and have not done. This was sketch #44..... well, not exact, but very close.
The background paper is DCWV. I popped the sentiment to help maintain the general thickness of the bow, the pearls and the sentiment. I had one 12x12 sheet so this made 9 cards. I think they could be used for Mother's Day or as a general card to send home to Mom. :)

ODBD October 2013 - Sentiments
The challenge for this month from Our Daily Bread Designs is to make a card where the sentiment is the focus. I actually do more of these than I do of images with sentiments.

OWH VCMP Challenge #4
I made this one last night but waited for better light to take the picture this morning. I enjoyed this challenge hosted by Annette which is to make a "love" card using OWH sketch #29. I noticed for some odd reason I hadn't used this one yet. I kind of like it........ guess I will be using it more. The embellishment is from K&Co and I added Dimensional Magic to the center for a bit of glossy texture.

2nd Parade of Leftovers for Today
It seems that I have to bunch up my posts as I have time. So, here is my 2nd Parade of Leftovers for today.
I had enough to make 2 of these. I love this very old stamp as it makes most any leftovers look good!
This one is also using Oldie Moldie paper.
The die cut was found in an old folder as well. It is popped for some dimension.
I even got a few Any Hero cards made using the digi from Operation Write Home.
Stay tuned! More on the way! Have a great day and thanks for visiting!
Parade of Leftovers
I have a bunch of cards that were made with leftovers aka scraps. This first one is made up of all shiny papers. The stripes on of the center paper are all glossy embossed.
This second one also has a RAK in the form of the embossed center birthday sentiment.
Yeah, there is a lot going on with this card! LOL! It was the black and white glossy patterned paper that was leftover. The sentiment is a digi from Paula.
Bits of shine and color.
Getting the hang of banners. Get it? Getting the "hang".... :)
And a little more of Pauls's digi.
OWH Sketch #183 (sort of)
This one began as Sketch #183..... and wandered off just a bit. Like all of the OWH sketches this one was a nice jumping off point to get the mo-jo going.

Our Daily Bread Designs August Challenge - Color
The ODBD Challenge this month at OWH Stars and Stamps blog is about color. The colors for this month's cards are pink, green and brown. Not 3 colors I would necessarily think of without being challenged but it turned out to be very enjoyable so I made 2 different ones.
These were both also made during a Scrap Wrangling session! Yay!

OWH Midweek Throwdown - Fall Theme
The MWT is for Fall themed cards. I know these don't have leaves or pumpkins on them but I see colors of fall in them. The gold strips have a nice bit of shimmer to them. These were made doing a bit of Scrap Wrangling as well. Waste not! :)

More Love for the Leftovers
I'm really making an effort to love the leftovers and here is the next parade after the one from last week. The parade began with the previous post and I'm trying to keep the momentum going. This first one has an embellishment made on the Cricut.
The fish and lure are rub-ons and will qualify for the ODBD Challenge for July.
Thanks for looking, have a great week and let's keep showing love to our Heroes!

The Paper Works
This is one I found in my file I hadn't yet posted that is an example of how sometimes I just let the paper do the work. Great paper makes it easier to make pretty cards for our Heroes.

OWH Design Bootcamp - Let Me Repeat
I am loving this bootcamp! This month the lesson is on repeating some element of the design or paper to make it look appealing. In this case it would be the large circle/star to repeat the paper used.
And thank you to Paula who chose to use one of my cards from last year as a sample! :)

ODBD May Challenge & OWH Sketch #171
These 2 challenges were part of the Virtual Cardmaking Party last weekend at OWH Stars and Stamps blog. The ODBD challenge was for a "missing you" type card and the design is using the OWH sketch #171.

Design Bootcamp - Now That's Odd
It's time for another terrific installment of Design Bootcamp taught by Paula over at the Stars and Stamps blog. The subject is using odd numbers in design. It is something I think I sort of "know" but don't always apply. Sometimes my cards just come out more artsy collage-ish.
I had actually been cleaning up the scraps when I made these two. I'm glad they follow the design criteria for this month. :)

MidWeek Throwdown - Bugs Life
The MWT at Stars & Stamps blog is to make cards with bugs. It appears that all I can find for bugs at the moment is the butterfly. This one is a 3-d embellishment from K&Co and I have a few more so don't be surprised when they show up. :)

CAS on Sunday
This is my version of CAS. Really nice embossed paper + K&Co. shiny, heavy cardstock border. I looked at it for days thinking it just couldn't be that simple. It needed more embellishing. But after a week of looking at it........... I like it just the way it is!
