Operation Write Home
I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

Christmas time
All these leftover slices can sure make a colorful card. The snowflakes were cut with the Cricut and the embossing folder is holly and leaf swirls.

Three more for Christmas
This first one is a little more simple. I made the flower with the Cricut and an old punch. I know it doesn't show up well but that red block is wonderful textured paper.
This layout is one that was part of VCMP challenge last year. I remembered/loved the layout and had to make some.

Oldie Moldie Monday Merry Christmas
It's Monday and here is the Oldie Moldie for the day! The snowflake was made with a large Cricut cut and 3 different sized snowflake punches and a little brad to hold them all together. One more for the OWH box going out this month.

A little more early Christmas
I'm not stressing over getting a ton of Christmas cards made since I have joined a few other OWH ladies and committed to pacing meself. If less than 50% of the box is Christmas then Sandy should not be overwhelmed with more than she needs for this season. Sorry, I can't remember who the background paper is made by but I can tell you that it qualifies as an Oldie Moldie Monday paper since I know it has been around for awhile. I do know the square panel is Tim Holtz. I made several for the next OWH box.

Scrappy Christmas
Good morning! I had a couple of scrappy Christmas cards for the OWH box to be sent out early. Sending them early helps give Sandy an idea of the card to contact ratio so she can advise the card makers of the amount needed (or not).
Making these scrappy cards is rather relaxing and I'm not making tons of multiples that she doesn't need right now. Ok, off to finish up some Thank You cards! Have a great day!

OWH Sketch Challenge #236
I got it done on the same day!!! *faints* LOL! I have spent the past week tearing apart and reorganizing my crafty stuff and could actually see my whole table this morning. I am so surprised that this one came together so quickly. The banner doesn't show up well in the photo but it is a slightly off white diamond dust (No flaking) and looks awesome with the iridescent snowflake that was cut on the Cricut. I'm so excited!

Another 10 Christmas for OWH
It is hard to think of fall or winter on a nice sunny day like today. :) However making cards for OWH means being a few seasons ahead in the card making so here are 10 more for the box getting ready to go postal this week.

OWH - Christmas and a tip
I don't normally post twice back to back in a day but I had made this card and thought the new OWH card makers might like a tip. It is on embellishment thickness.
The sentiment is mounted on a chipboard piece which is ok to use although I found it rather thick so I thinned it by tearing off 1/2 of the thickness. The visual of layers is still there but with much less bulk. OWH cards can't be too thick as we don't want the Heroes to have to pay postage for bulky cards. I hope that tip helps.

OWH - Christmas Cards for the July box.
I'm going to be adding some Christmas/Winter cards to the next box that I'm sending out. Getting them to Sandy a little early helps her with getting prepared for the avalanche of cards that come for Christmas and winter.
There are 2 additional reasons for sending some now...... #1 is that I get to work on a totally different theme and that helps the mojo not get in a rut. #2 is that I don't get in a panic to make a bunch of cards towards the end of the deadline. This way hopefully, it is less stressful for all.
These mistletoe was cut with the Cricut and I glossed all the berries with Dimensional Magic.
The sentiment for this was made from a clear sticker and is wonderfully shiny and slightly popped. Yay! 7 more for the box!

OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #12
I know it is Tuesday the 8th but I am determined to finish these challenges! So, here is challenge #12 hosted by Tami. She challenged us to make a red, white and blue Christmas card. The ornaments were cut with the Cricut and I didn't add a sentiment because the textured background kind of says it all! :) Maybe I will make a few more of these for the box.....

OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #6
Challenge #6 is hosted by JoAnn and can be found here. The challenge is to make 2 cards, one using Christmas colors and that can be used anytime......
I ended up using the reds and greens for both cards but the first 2 are just holly and that can be for anytime during the "winter" months.

OWH Christmas - No Sentiment
Here are 5 cards I made for Christmas that have no sentiment. I know they look kind of simple but, I think it is good for the Heroes' to have a choice of what they want to say.
They might just want to say "I love you" or "I'm thinking of you" .......... just thinking maybe this might work.

OWH Christmas
I just realized I had not posted any Christmas cards for the July box to OWH. Some of us have decided to make a few early so that the rush doesn't turn into a crush for us or for Sandy trying to sort and ship them all out.
These four are the first to go in the box. And since they have no sentiment they could be used for any kind of card during that season.
So, I can add seven to my tally and get crackin' on some more!

OWH VCMP Challenge #3
This is challenge is called Triple Die Cutting Technique and is hosted by Seongsook. I had never tried this before since I don't have the rectangle dies. But I did have these wavy frames so I thought I could give it a go. I'm glad the instructions were well written. I only came up one piece short and that was an easy fix.
OWH Labor Day VCMP - Challenge #1
Yay! Today begins the Operation Write Home Labor Day weekend card making party. There will be challenges throughout the day posted by several of the OWH ladies showing off their talents and inspiring us to make bee-u-tiful cards for our Heroes for the upcoming seasons. This first one is being hosted by Nancy and it a fun one to try. Hop on over to her page and play along!

OWH Sketch #183 (sort of)
This one began as Sketch #183..... and wandered off just a bit. Like all of the OWH sketches this one was a nice jumping off point to get the mo-jo going.

12x12 = 6x6 Christmas One Card Wonder - Whew!
That title is a mouthful! What really happened is I found a 12x12 sheet of very busy Christmas cardstock in my stash. The pattern was such that I could cut it down to 6x6 and go from there. This picture is the 6x6 version.
It was not a paper I could see using over the whole card so I thought I would give the One Card Wonder idea a try. I found a template from which I made the first 6 cards.
I had an unopened package of K&Co. Christmas embellishments that were just crying out to be used and off I went. There were 23 embellishments in the pack so I had to make 2 of my own to complete the 25 cards made from ONE 12x12 sheet of paper!
Ok, let me tell you that was nuts. But I did keep with a few of my pledges to use up what I have, if I open it use it and to get a jump start on the Christmas cards.
This last pic is of one of the embellishments I had to make when I ran out. And NO leftover patterned paper!

Christmas in March
How about a few Christmas cards for the box to be sent out at the end of the summer. That is a die cut backing to a Cricut cut snowflake with a vellum snowflake sticker and some bling.
This is my first card made with (what do you call those?) banners/flags. I like the shiny gold band for a little holiday sparkle.

VCMP Challenge #10 - Glitz and Glam
The name of this challenge is Glitz and Glam Without Glitter hosted by Kaylee. Notice the part about Without Glitter? That is because we want to keep our Heroes safe and little twinklies that might get on their clothes could make them visible in the dark. BUT! This glitter is fused into the paper and coated with a clear smooth surface so nothing can rub off or escape. The green leaves and red flower centerpiece are velvet to help make this card feel a bit more special.

Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge
Ah, finally got back to the craft table. Just in time for an OWH Midweek Throwdown. This color challenge is to make a card using red and green so I made 4 of these for the box that goes out next week. The present is popped for dimension and interest and the silver glitter paper is fused to there is no flaking off. (sorry about the glare, eek)
