Operation Write Home
I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

SS (Seongsook's Stampers) Challenge - Dry Embossing
I know I am not posting much lately but all this packing towards the unknown departure date is very hard. And I'm trying to sell off a bunch of stuff from the farm as well. (Ever tried to pack up a farm?) This whole horrible ordeal just really needs to have a light start to show up at the end of that tunnel.
I am glad to have made a least one card recently. I found the flower makings in a box of "forgotten" pre-cut items and the embossing is for the most recent SS dry embossing challenge.
I think I need a real long paper vacation! :)

OWH - Lovin'
This morning's card share is a pair. The background paper has ALL the words shiny embossed! OH-Aahh! I'm working on making nice layered embellishments that are not thick. With all the scoring on the petals it looks thicker but they really lay quite flat.

OWH Sketch #218 - I Miss You
I finally found a good use for this very busy poppy paper. I loved the colors when I bought it and still do. The challenge was to figure out which sketch would show it off the best.
I think I found it!

Missing You cards
Here are some Missing You cards. I think that of all the things our Heroes may want to say to family and friends back home, Missing You is most true. They are far away for long stretches of time.
I liked this beautiful K& Co paper and I added 3-d bugs and butterflies and glossed them up for interest. I had enough to make 4 different cards.

This 2nd one was made with the Cricut. I got 6 of these done. Kind of makes the point, eh?
These two use K&Co chipboard embellishments.
This last one is also a K&Co 3-d embellishment and uses up some of that photo paper I had laying around.

OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #14
This challenge was sure interesting! It is hosted by Annette and asked for 2 cards. One to be made WAY to bulky to be used by a Hero but could be written TO a Hero.
Check out that chunky embellishment! It looks nice but it is way to thick for our Heroes to send through USPS.... that dang thing needs it's own boat!
OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #13/Sketch #232
Woo hoo! A 2-fer! A challenge and a sketch hosted by our very own OWH blogger Marlene. This lovely paper and embellishment are K&Co..... and I would imagine the embossed vellum is as well, but don't quote me on that one. I hadn't used that vellum in years so this is actually a 3-fer! Oldie Moldie paper.... still awesome looking.

OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #10
I can hardly believe that I am up to #10 since I was out of the house all day yesterday and couldn't get one card made! This challenge is hosted by Bobbi and is looking for texture. At least 3 kinds of texture. My 3 are: the dry embossed lower panel, the ribbon and the 3-d K&Co. lily (and the lily has a glossy smooth spot in the center as well). I just figured this one needed no sentiment.

RAK from Debi Rice
Quite a while back I had received a RAK from Debi Rice in which these prints of paintings she had done were included. She sent them so I could use them to make cards and now I have quit hoarding them and done just that.

The Paper Works
This is one I found in my file I hadn't yet posted that is an example of how sometimes I just let the paper do the work. Great paper makes it easier to make pretty cards for our Heroes.

Midweek Throwdown Spring Flowers
The first challenge of the new year at OWH Stars and Stamps blog is to make a card with spring flowers. On the heels of such a fun Top 10 event there should be lots of mo-jo flowing. There were tons of great ideas worth CASEing or stirring the idea pot.

ODBD December Challenge - Flowers
Our Daily Bread Designs December challenge for OWH is to make a card with flowers. ODBD sponsors shipping fees for 2 boxes to be sent to our Heroes each month if 50 individuals post a card for the challenge. They also sweeten the deal by having a random drawing for gift certificates for 2 of the posted cardmakers. Yay! So, here are a few cards I had made with flowers that I had not posted yet.
These were made with DCWV paper and K&Co cardstock border stickers. The butterflies were made with the Cricut and the ruffle edge is a Martha Stewart punch.

ODBD October Challenge
I know I haven't posted for over a month. Life just gets crazy. Well, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things so I started with the ODBD October Challenge. The challenge is to use circles on the card. This card has circles using the free digi from Paula. This is also my Oldie Moldie Monday Challenge card. It is using Brenda Walton Cabbage Roses and the accent paper is from Ever After. I found those papers in the bottom of a box, sheesh! I got a dozen (roses) cards from using it all up! No leftover ribbon even.

VCMP Challenge #1-Scripture
The Virtual Carmaking Party at OWH has begun! Challenge #1 is hosted by ODBD and is asking for a scripture or encouraging verse be used on the card. Since I haven't made cards in a very long time this will be a good warm up for me. The 3-d sticker is K&Co and the word art came from Create with TLC.

MWT - Things With Wings
The MidWeek Throwdown at OWH is Things With Wings. I had made these cards before I knew the challenge. (How the heck did that happen?) I thought this DCWV paper was simply summery and with Sandy's inspirational card last week using just pretty paper and a sentiment, well, this one seemed like a no-brainer. The only thing I added was the punched butterfly, the heart gem, the sentiments and the bee. Ok, a little ruffles and stitching as well but basically, this is just the pretty paper.
The bee is a K&Co. 3-D sticker that I covered in Dimensional Glaze to give him some special love.

K&Co Thinking of You 2
Here are some more that I made with the same bunch of supplies. Not to worry, all the glittery spots are sealed. And the patterned paper is definitely an Oldie Moldie qualifier as I think it must be 10 years old! Looks new to me today! LOL!

K&Co Thinking of You
These are made with K&Co cardstock border stickers and floral die cuts. I just added the little extra bling to the flowers. The yellow borders are a lovely matte/shiny paper I picked up at M's on clearance. Oh, the die cuts and borders were also on clearance. Got to love clearance!

Use Something You've Been Hoarding

This challenge for the party was to make a card using something I have been hoarding. This "something" is a piece of lace that I just love. It has appeared on other OWH cards and now I'm getting down to the end of it. I just love how it looks! Our Heroes are worth it!

Midweek Throwdown - Flowers
This week's theme at OWH is Flowers! Since Mother's Day is still not here yet, here is one from the box of cards I sent to Sandy. The flowers are a dimensional sticker. (Not too thick.) And little burgundy matching pearls.
