OWH ODBD March Challenge - Sentiments

Hello!  This month's challenge from Our Daily Bread Designs is to make cards for our Heroes with the sentiment being the focal point.  Which works for me since I don't do much in the way of images and coloring.

I just love this stamp that I picked up at Hobby Lobby!  The 3-D embellishments are more of the K&Co stash and all have had shine added with Dimensional Magic. 

SS Challenge - Music Theme

I am so shocked and happy that I made another card today.  This one is for a challenge that was posted on Seongsook's Stampers FB page.  This was the only piece of music paper I could find in all this packing.  The embellishment is layered thin cardboard and slightly popped.

SS (Seongsook's Stampers) Challenge - Dry Embossing

I know I am not posting much lately but all this packing towards the unknown departure date is very hard.  And I'm trying to sell off a bunch of stuff from the farm as well.  (Ever tried to pack up a farm?) This whole horrible ordeal just really needs to have a light start to show up at the end of that tunnel.

I am glad to have made a least one card recently.  I found the flower makings in a box of "forgotten" pre-cut items and the embossing is for the most recent SS dry embossing challenge.

I think I need a real long paper vacation!  :)

Vertical Star Burst

Good morning!  I was going to make a bunch of these and found I had a hard time making just one.  Cindy R is soooo good at this and I was inspired to try it.  Alas, I need more practice.  I do like this one though.  The sentiment is a sticker from the stash that I mounted on cardstock and then popped.  I will try this again another day.  :)

OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #13/Sketch #232

Woo hoo!  A 2-fer!  A challenge and a sketch hosted by our very own OWH blogger Marlene.  This lovely paper and embellishment are K&Co..... and I would imagine the embossed vellum is as well, but don't quote me on that one.  I hadn't used that vellum in years so this is actually a 3-fer!  Oldie Moldie paper.... still awesome looking.

OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #10

I can hardly believe that I am up to #10 since I was out of the house all day yesterday and couldn't get one card made!   This challenge is hosted by Bobbi and is looking for texture.  At least 3 kinds of texture.  My 3 are:  the dry embossed lower panel, the ribbon and the 3-d K&Co. lily (and the lily has a glossy smooth spot in the center as well).  I just figured this one needed no sentiment.

The first challenge that was posted for Saturday was also the ODBD July Challenge.  It is for things with wings.  I seem to have a ton of K&Co. 3-d butterfly embellishments..... They really are nice though.

OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #5

Yikes!  Between having to be gone all day yesterday and having to deal with rescuing my truck off the highway today I have gotten way behind.  My truck had a flat tire and I live out in the middle of nowhere so it was a logistical challenge.  But it is safely home now and I will get the flat tire repaired tomorrow. 

Whew!  Now on to my card.  Challenge #5 is hosted by Beth and can be found here.  It is a background challenge that was looking for inks or paste.  In the absence of those items we could make a scrappy background using at least 5 papers..... I used 6 in this one and the flowers are K&Co 3-D embellishments.  The sentiment is a digi from Create with TLC.

OWH 4th of July VCMP - Challenge #3

Wow!  Was this one ever a challenge for me!  It is hosted by Kelly and asked for a children's card with paper piecing.  Ok, let me see..... I rarely do children's cards (since OWH has so many wonderful card makers who do such an amazing job at it)........ I haven't stamped an image to be colored in 3 or 4 years..... AND I have NEVER done paper piecing.  EEEK!!  Oddly, it just so happens that I was supporting an LSS last week and DID buy this cute little Stampendous stamp.  So, after I stopped staring in panic I went for it and gave him a denim hat.  One of my favorite hats of recent years was a Harley Davidson denim hat.  And I do love baseball.  YAY!

OWH Christmas - No Sentiment

Here are 5 cards I made for Christmas that have no sentiment. I know they look kind of simple but, I think it is good for the Heroes' to have a choice of what they want to say. 

They might just want to say "I love you" or "I'm thinking of you"  .......... just thinking maybe this might work.

OWH Christmas

I just realized I had not posted any Christmas cards for the July box to OWH.  Some of us have decided to make a few early so that the rush doesn't turn into a crush for us or for Sandy trying to sort and ship them all out. 

These four are the first to go in the box.  And since they have no sentiment they could be used for any kind of card during that season.

 

So, I can add seven to my tally and get crackin' on some more!

OWH Collage-ish

I have no idea where these came from.  I pulled this paper out of a pile that had been precut quite a long time ago and figured it hid out long enough.  With absolutely no preplanning this is what I came up with.  I kind of like the non-structured way these were put together. 

Right down to the duck tape stickers.

These are just some random cards I made trying to put a dent in the scrap pile.  the butterfly is K&Co. and not to worry, anything that looks glittery is either very sealed by them or by ME.

ODBD June Challenge - Die Cuts or Punches

Good morning!  I'm having coffee while reading the new ODBD challenge for June and realized I have the perfect die cut, well, it is a Cricut cut that I had made a while back.  I made several of them so there will be more of them showing up.

MWT - April Showers Bring May Flowers

I had made these 2 while cleaning up the scrap pile.  The paper had such pretty flowers........  The free digi is from Create with TLC.  I hope the families can feel those long distance hugs.

ODBD May Challenge - Embossing

It is very hard to post because my husband just recently passed away.  It is hard to find normal and feels wrong to try to do something that some might view as frivolous.  Being so alone now I have to remember that he loved my cards and would often comment on how far I had come in my card making.  So for him I will post.  And for the Heroes and their families I will continue make them.

This one is for the ODBD Challenge at OWH. 

OWH Sketch #78

Here is a sketch I had not done yet.  (I have a list.... ok..... I do... sheesh!)  The paper is Flavia I found in an old paper drawer.  The gold stars have a nice shine to them so they stand out better than the picture shows.  I am trying to do at least one of each of the OWH sketches.... it is kind of a stretch but, keeps me thinking.

More Masculine

Yay!  Internet for today!  So, I'm going to post a bunch..... please bear with me.

The first one for today is another masculine card.  I love these deer heads in part because they are an awesome image but also because they require NO coloring.  I only color a few times a year...... I'm afraid I might get hooked on Copics and that would just be another addiction.  (good excuse?)  I don't have enough time (or cash really) to get hooked on something else.  I need to use what I have to try to bring down the hoarding piles. Got 4 of these made for the OWH box.

Masculine Just For You

Men need "Just for You" cards too!  Made 8 for the OWH box.  I really like this deer head digi that I received from Free Vintage Digital Stamps...... it works well for any season.

ODBD April 2014 Challenge - Insects

Wow, it is hard to believe that I have not posted anything in over a month!  But, stressful life challenges took over and I lost my internet and I'm in the middle of packing and moving.  Whew!  Today I do have a card to post as I took seriously an article on crafting and how it effects the brain and emotions.  I needed to tinker in paper even if all the boxing isn't done and all the challenges are still there.  I am realizing how tired I feel when I can't take some time to putter in paper.

So, not to drag it all out here is a card scrap wrangled with tiny butterflies.  This one is for the ODBD April Challenge over at OWH Starts and Stamps blog.  I can feel the stress starting to melt away..............  I'll be posting more today and hopefully tomorrow as well.  Happy weekend everyone!
