Operation Write Home

I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

MWT - Cute Characters

I don't have a lot of cute characters but I do have Mickey Mouse and Friends!

Father's Day Stag

This card was made with a digital stamp from Free Vintage Digi Stamps.  It kind of looks like one that you might find in an old pub.  I made 9 of these since I only found one sheet of 12x12 in the stash drawer.  I have no idea where it came from and can't even remember buying it.... hm?  The tag is from a set of K&Co tags and the brads are Recollections.  The tags were a great find.....a package of 40 (4 styles) for $.99!  A few of those went home with me... :)

Masculine Challenge- Father's Day

It is a good thing I got started because Man cards are quite the puzzle.  This is the first set.  (I'm working on a new set right now... )  The first pic shows the first stage where I made 7 and then hit a speed bump.

It took 2 days to get the idea of how to finish the card.  That is the second pic.  And the funny thing is that I was really bored with trying to finish this card so I turned on a computer game and as I sat there playing it, the card kind of finished itself!  Go figure!

And the third one is a close up of the embellishment.  What I was trying to show was that the "Happy" is popped and the red stars are glossy embossed.  Guess the pic didn't show that.  But it was kind of cool how it just all came together!

Sketch Challenge #19

There are a lot of the sketches that I have not been able to do due to time or (lack of) mo-jo.  I have heard that some of the ladies that make the OWH cards are challenging themselves to somehow catch up and use all the sketches posted.  I am thinking that if I don't say it too loud Ms. Mo-Jo won't hear and run away, but I am going to try to do them as well.  I made a checklist and will be ticking them off.
Here is the first one.  I had to start out slow....... work my way into the idea of doing ALL of them.  I think this might qualify for Olde Moldie Monday as well since the Stickopotamus vellum sticker is one that I have had for a long time.  I love the embossed pink paper (Bazzill Basics) and the plaid paper that I rescued from the "clearance" bin this last week.

Stars and Stamps Blog Color Challenge X2

This week's Midweek Throwdown is a color challenge.  The colors to use are green and yellow.  Digging through my paper I found that yellow is not a major patterned paper color I have.  eeek!  And will all the paper I have you would think I might have more.  But, no!  LOL!  The first card might look like a familiar design.  That is because it is S&S Sketch #85.
The second card is made with handmade paper and the rick-rac is velvet.

March ODBD Challenge Tic-Tac-Toe

The March Challenge for ODBD at OWH is to make a tic-tac-toe line using 3 elements to incorporate into my card.  I chose stripes, layers and die cut.  ODBD makes a donation of sponsoring box postage up to 2 per month based on how many cardmakers post cards to the challenge.  We are almost to the max since it looks like I will be #49.

Masculine Challenge FB

I made this with no flowers or twinkles or pinks and purples so I hope this qualifies as masculine.

MWT - Mother's Day Challenge

This week's challenge is Mother's Day.  This was made during my "use it up scraps" mini party (with myself!)  The green flower was the first thing I ever tried to cut on my new little Cricut.  Yay!
