Operation Write Home

I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

Fall - Miss You

This one I just have to say, I could not get any pictures that show how the main paper is purple and gold.......... trust me, it is very cool!  I got from a specialty paper store many moons ago in CA.

Seongsook's Stampers Fall Card Swap

Here is my card for the Fall Card Swap hosted by Cora Jean on Seongsook's Stampers page on FB.  I have to admit that I don't normally do card swaps because I tend to panic and have brain freeze.  But I am attempting to stretch and try something new.  I tried to get lots of textures on this and have to say I did enjoy making this.  Thank you Cora and Seongsook.

OWH Mid-Month Throwdown - Grateful

Today's pair are for the OWH (new) Mid-Month Throwdown and you can read about it here.  The challenge is to make Grateful or Thankful themed cards.  The side panels were dry embossed before the paint was added, the sentiment panel is raised and the leaves are punched with a textured paper... all to add as much texture as possible to these cards.  I'm thankful for this uninterrupted day to make cards and tinker in the crafty zone!  :)

OWH VCMP Challenge #7

I know I'm getting out of order on the challenges but with the kids card bingo I drew a blank.  I will come back to that one.  Challenge #7 is hosted by Marilyn over at Blessed Creativity and is looking for a fall themed card without being "Thanksgiving" and to use a leaf motif in fall colors.  I also attempted to use OWH sketch #27, although I think I wandered off a bit.  I DID get the leaf in fall purple.....  :)

Fall Leaves

I loved this paper!  All the leaves and pinecones are glossy embossed.  That made adding the ink to the outer edges easy and gave a great effect.  I made 6 of these for the box heading out to OWH in the next week. I just have a little more space to fill then out it goes!

OWH Midweek Throwdown - Fall Theme

The MWT is for Fall themed cards.  I know these don't have leaves or pumpkins on them but I see colors of fall in them.  The gold strips have a nice bit of shimmer to them.  These were made doing a bit of Scrap Wrangling as well.  Waste not!  :)

Fall-ish Thanks

I know it isn't fall yet, but, Operation Write Home has deadlines that are always a season or two ahead of what season we are actually in.

That way the cards can get sorted, shipped and to our Heroes in time for them to be able to use them in the proper season.

I made these fall-ish cards with just the sentiment Thanks so that they could be used without having to be a Thanksgiving specific card.

I made several of each of the different styles.

WCMD Yellow/Orange Thank You Challenge

This one I went with more on the orange side of things. Fall is here and that wonderful color is everywhere!

OWH - Sparkle Creations Fall Card

Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps hosted a challenge for OWH this month and it was to make a fall card. As we head into the end of the year these will be in high demand and are probably in short supply. The rules for OWH state NO glitter so the nice shiny stip down the side is a ribbon to give a little twinkle (and matching the leaf brad) with no flaking! The dark piece has a copper-look shimmer built right into the paper as well.

FB Birthday Bash! The last challenge....Show Off a Sticker!

This challenge asked to focus on a sticker. I had to laugh! Now she wants stickers! So, this is made from 3 different sets of stickers, even the leaf panels are 2 stickers.

Fall Thank You Challenge - OWH Birthday Bash!

Trying to find a minute anywhere I can to get some cards made for the Birthday Bash here is my short story for today. I got up, made a pot of coffee, put hair dye in my hair (eeek!!!) then sat down to whip out a card while it was setting. This was the result. Embossed leaves randomly colored with chalks and the really nice sheer ribbon. Washed out my hair, took this pic and now must get ready for work. Obsessed with card making? You tell me! Our Heroes are worth it!

Fall Colors X2

These were made from the same image just split in two. It is nice to be able to make similar, yet not identical cards. The leaf on the card above was made from a punch and then inks added with a cotton swab.

Fall Elk

I am trying to make some general Fall/Winter cards that don't necessarily say a specific holiday. I thought this guy was handsome!

Fall Featured #2

Here are more of the Fall cards I just made. I love all the colors of fall. God uses His full color palette during the fall. Too bad the season is so short.

Fall Featured

Sandy had asked for some cards that were Fall and Winter without being holiday, like Thanksgiving or Christmas, so here are the first few I made with that in mind.

Fall - Thoughts of Home

I'm starting on the Fall themed cards as well so I can get them out in a timely manner for the troops. This is the first one. Getting warmed up. I like how the stamp I had matched the picture and I added my favorite touch, split peas!
