Operation Write Home

I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

Scrap Wrangling/Design Elements

As I was cleaning up my work table this morning and shuffling all the scraps I had a light bulb moment.  Instead of the scraps just being sorted and tucked away in the hopes of being useful, I had an idea.  I got out my Big Kick and some of my texture folders and got to texturizing.  No longer "just" scraps these are now design elements.  Those kind that just add that little specialness to the cards.  I wasn't particular as to the size of the scrap, all sizes including strips were run through the machine.  I even dug through my sorted scraps for ones to give a new lease on life.  Now when I look into the basket I no longer see scraps but Design Elements.  :)

Instead of just scraps--possibilities! Awesome idea, Lynn!

I have tons of scraps and occasionally sort them by color, but end up tossing as I can't think of anything to do with them. YES, this is a super idea! Love it.

Great idea, I think I will do this with some of my scraps. I always love a little embossing on a card. Thanks for sharing!
