Operation Write Home

I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

Top 13 for 2013

Happy New Year!  Operation Write Home is having a bloghop!  What a fun way to start out the new year.  Just click HERE to take you to the start of the hop.

This year's Top 13 was a bit harder for me to choose since only about half of the ones chosen jumped up and said "pick me!"  So I decided to try to choose based on themes.

This first theme is sketch and this is OWH Sketch #91 and I liked it because of the simplicity of the design, well, and the DP's flowers were all shiny embossed and are totally yummy.

Theme #2 is OWH Design Bootcamp taught by Paula S. and the subject that month was the use of repetition, in this case being the dots and circle pattern.

Theme #3 is patriotic colors.  These snowflakes were perfect for red, white and blue bling!

Theme #4 is child/boy.  This was fun to make with the arrows all shiny and the die cut truck.

Theme #5 is child/girl.  This one was selected to be a sample for a MWT challenge calling for use of die cuts or punches.  The ballerina is a die cut.

Theme #6 is One Sheet Wonder.  This is just a sampling of the PILE of cards I made from ONE sheet.  The paper and other cards can be viewed here.  I made 25 cards from one 12x12 sheet.

Theme #7 is Cricut.  This lovely tapestry rose paper was perfect for this Cricut cut embellishment.

Theme #8 is new technique. This was a VCMP challenge that called for applying masking tape a surface (I used a piece of plywood), directly applying ink to the surface, then transfer the ink to the paper. LOVED this technique for snowflakes.

Theme #9 is Mom. Mom's deserve lots of flowers and bling!

Theme #10 is Dad.  I know this isn't super fancy but I liked the combination of elements especially the bamboo paper down the side.

Theme #11 is scraps.  While this was made from scraps of the brown DP I chose this one for the 3-knot ribbon treatment.

Theme #12 is colorful/cheerful.  I guess that kind of says it all, huh?

Theme #13 is winter.  I love this one so much I took an extra pic........ :)

And now for being so patient and sitting through this parade I have a small gift I would like to give away in a random drawing.  This stamp reminds me of how much time flies, when we are having fun or making cards or trying to beat those OWH deadlines!  :)

I will draw one winner on Jan 5th from those folks leaving comments on this post and will announce that winner on the Operation Write Home FB wall.  This year has been great fun with all you talented card makers and I look forward to seeing your wonderful, inspiring creations in the new year!

I SO agree about that last card - stunning. Did you use dies? And the lace border adds such nice texture. Beautiful job.

It's hard to find a favorite, you do such good work. I would say the Mothers Day card, because I love flowers and it is so sweet with the little flowers surrounding the sentiment. Thanks for sharing. All the best in 2014
