Operation Write Home

I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

Midweek Throwdown - Clean and Simple

The challenge this week at OWH is to make a Clean and Simple card...with a little texture thrown in.  We don't seem to do many that are C&S, for some reason they seem harder to do.... hm?

RAK from Debi Rice

Quite a while back I had received a RAK from Debi Rice in which these prints of paintings she had done were included.  She sent them so I could use them to make cards and now I have quit hoarding them and done just that.

Any Hero Cards

This is the 1/2 dozen Any Hero cards being included in the box to OWH this week.  The stamp is from River City Rubber Works, a wonderful stamp company and the digi sentiment is from Create With TLC.

The Paper Works

This is one I found in my file I hadn't yet posted that is an example of how sometimes I just let the paper do the work.  Great paper makes it easier to make pretty cards for our Heroes.

OWH Midweek Throwdown - Cards 4 Kids

This week's Throwdown is especially for the Heroes to send home to their kids.  I love this fun arrows paper as some of the arrows are shiny embossed.  The truck is a die cut, found hiding in my stash, that I added a thin dimension to for a nice 3-d effect.

The road is made with a heavy textured paper and a border sticker.  (sorry the pics are not quite as bright as the card..... it is dark foggy today)

12 Cards From One 12x12

Seongsook has been inspiring us to use One Sheet Wonder templates to get the most out of our paper and make a bunch of good looking cards in the process.

This set is a dozen cards made from just cutting the 12x12 sheet into 12 equal 3"x4" pieces.  I love this type of card when using paper that does all the work.

Just add a few (not thick) buttons, some gold mesh and a free digi sentiment from Create With TLC and it goes together quickly.

OWH Sketch #177

Marlene was right!  This is a great sketch!  It really made me have to think about the patterned papers I chose.  I was trying to keep in mind the lesson from June's Design Bootcamp class, the use of repetition.

Blog Hop Inspired Bonus Sketch #10

The recent Memorial Day Blog Hop inspired me to do a few sketches I found I hadn't done yet.  Bonus sketch #10 is one of them.

OWH Design Bootcamp - Let Me Repeat

I am loving this bootcamp!  This month the lesson is on repeating some element of the design or paper to make it look appealing.  In this case it would be the large circle/star to repeat the paper used.

And thank you to Paula who chose to use one of my cards from last year as a sample!  :)

OWH Midweek Throwdown - Things With Wings

I know it has been awhile since I have posted so there will be several today as I attempt to get caught up.  This morning the challenge is to make a card with something on it that has wings.  I made this butterfly on the Cricut and his little antennae with a small old border punch.  The ribbon is May Arts and the sentiment that I grunged up a bit is from Designer Digitals.
