This is one of Karen's challenges from the Summer Haven event. It was to make a card using punches or die cuts. The pointsettia is made up of 2 sizes of leaves, a circle punch and a hand punch. Then there is the holly punch and the border punch along the bottom. And gold pen was used to add detail. It is nice to re-visit older tools.
Operation Write Home
I am currently making cards for Operation Write Home, which sends blank handmade cards to deployed servicemen and women. OWH is an amazing organization that ships thousands of cards each month to our nation's Heroes so they have something to write home on. Please check out the tag on the sidebar for more information on this inspiring mission. Please join me in supporting our men and women who sacrifice for us all.

RAK it up! Challenge Sample #2
I am so enjoying the gifted items that have become part of my stash! Here is another one that is all from RAK's. The embossed sentiment is chalked with red to make the lettering stand out.

S&S Challenge #22 AND my Summer Haven Sample!
This card is from the Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge #22 and I decided to make it the sample for one of the challenges for the Summer Haven event at Stamp Haven. Dang, it is hard to combine some of these challenges, but, I guess that really was the challenge of the day for me.
The sample is for a challenge called "RAK it up!". No it is not billiards. It is a challenge to use the wonderful items that people have gifted to you. The only thing on the card that does not have to be a RAK is the card base. Everything else, the background papers, the sentiment and the embellishments all have to be something that someone GAVE to you.
Hope you like it!

S&S Challenge #21 and Bring Out Your Bling
I'm not so sure there is a good way for me to get a picture of this card, but after multiple tries this will have to do. This card would work for the Midweek Throwdown as well with that great silver glitter. It is fused into the paper so no chance of any flaking at all. Great stuff! Need to get more.

Midweek Throwdown - Masculine X2
How very timely that this week the card I had made was masculine. I just didn't have a chance until now to get it posted. I think I like the simplicity of making masculine cards.
This second card is one I had recently made, but had not yet posted as well. I love the strong feel of the train.Monday, June 7, 2010
S&S Challenge #20
This paper was painted with glitter glue so that it would not flake off but still give some shimmer to the paper.
Patriotic Bear
This is my "after" Memorial Day card. I was still in the mood for the Red, White and Blue and he looks like he still wants to celebrate, too.
Dancing Girls Happy Birthday
I found the picture in a Nostalgia magazine and it just hollered out to be a card!
Teal Butterfly
I found this image on Clickr and colored it with pencils. I love this shimmery purple paper that Debby sent to me in a goodie box. I punched the tiny dots with it, too.

OWH - Color Challenge Gold #2
Late last night I started playing around with some gold (almost) linen texture paper that Debby had sent to me. It already had the hearts punched out of the paper so it was actually like a scrap. I decided to cut out the "cut out" part of the scrap to make the tumbling hearts. Yes, I hand cut around what was already cut out, used a bit for the border and added the lace.

OWH - Color Challenge Gold
I made this card from a die cut flower that was sent to me by UtahAnn. I just used gold crochet string to wrap the flower and then wander the card, gold embossed the tips of the petals and added matching gold brads.

OWH Coming Home!
On the OWH facebook blog, Sandy had asked if anyone had ever wanted to make "I'm coming home!" cards and I immediately thought of this one. I think this monkey is so cute! I haven't made any more of these, but, now I think I will have to "challenge" myself to make some more. Hmmm????
